The new varsity strength and conditioning, located in the Stile Athletics Field House center opened in August 2004, featuring over 8,000-square-feet of space, available for the preseason, in-season and postseason conditioning, as well as for helping UA student-athletes rehabilitate following injury. The UA Speed, Strength and Conditioning program is designed to help student-athletes become strong and powerful. The program combines strength training, Olympic lifts, plyometrics, speed and agility development, flexibility and cardiovascular regimes to build a complete student-athlete. The program is designed to allow each student-athlete to compete at the top of their level and to compete at the Division I level. "We try to build our program around a general philosophy of preparing our student-athletes for the rigors of Division I competition," Bailey said. "With our state-of-the-art facilities, we take each student-athlete and provide them with a complete strength and conditioning regime, tailored to their sport and their abilities, in an effort to allow them to compete at high levels and to decrease the chances of an injury." Each of UA's 19 athletic programs benefit from the combination of state-of-the-art facilities and the program's knowledgeable staff. Workout regimes are tailored for each individual student-athlete and their respective sport in an effort to give them every advantage over their competition.
