Tennis Drops 7-0 Decision To Miami In MAC Play

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron tennis team lost 7-0 to Miami (Ohio) in a Mid-American Conference match on Friday at LaTuchie Tennis Center.

Miami (8-5, 2-0 MAC) opened play by claiming the doubles point, with wins at the Nos. 1 and 2 spots. The Akron (5-7, 0-2) pair of Jeremie Benjamin and Kerry Langworthy scored an 8-4 victory at the No. 3 position.

The RedHawks went on to win five of the six singles flights in straight sets. At the No. 2 slot, UA’s Carolina Castro was defeated 4-6, 6-1, 1-0.

Akron returns to the courts and closes out a two-match league homestand on Saturday when it plays host to Ball State at 1 p.m. EDT at LaTuchie Tennis Center.
