Coach J.D. Brookhart's Weekly Press Conference

Opening Statement:

"After evaluating the Temple game on Saturday, I thought we played well early and then some poor special teams play put us down in the game.  Being down 28-17, I made a mistake and put our young quarterback (freshman Patrick Nicely) in bad place where he had to throw the ball."

"I have to give credit to Temple.  They are a good, physical, and fast football team.  I don't think anybody in the Mid-American Conference looks like them at all.  Temple has good players and a very good defense."

"The key for us is to put the Temple game behind us and prepare for Bowling Green."

On Temple's speed:

"Temple has big bodies with great speed. I believe they are the most talented team in the MAC East.  Their linebackers and safeties were big and fast as well as their impressive defensive line.  Their receivers were able to beat our corners deep which hasn't happened mush this year."

On the play of the offense:

"We did some things on the perimeter that was able to exploit the man-to-man coverage that Temple played.  We had to make some tight throws and win in those man-to-man situations and we were able to do that early.  When we got down in the game and had to throw the ball Temple's defense was able to pin their ears back and come after us to apply pressure."

On Bowling Green:

"Bowling Green is very multiple in the offensive sets that they run.  They move (wide receiver Feddie) Barnes around so much in attempts to get him the ball. This schematically makes it difficult on defenses.  We will have to be very fundamental in our zones and man coverage and be aware of where Barnes is at all times.  Their quarterback has great trust in his ability to come down with the ball.  Willie Geter is a good, elusive running back that has the ability to make guys miss."
