Quoting Head Coach Keith Dambrot
Opening Statement:
"It was a terrific game. We were very fortunate. Western Michigan is a tough team. We have played them a bunch of times and physically and mentally they are one of the toughest teams in the league. We just couldn't put them away. We played really well in the first half, it reminded me of last year's tournament."
On finding themselves where pre-season prognostications expected:
"I am a realist. Realistically, we were picked first but we weren't that great of a team. Last year, most of the season we weren't a great team then either but we ultimately won the tournament. We lost our best player (Nate Linhart) and everybody picks us first. But we have winning tradition and they know how to win. We've been in a bunch of close games this year and have won most of them. Every game is a struggle for us. This team has tremendous camaraderie and toughness."
Quoting Senior Forward Chris McKnight
On participating in four MAC Championship games in a row:
"It is very special. Ever since I have been here we have been in this position. I can't settle for anything less – anything else is unacceptable."
On his last minute, game winning shot:
"I was shocked that the ball came to me. It went in and popped back out, went it in and trickled back out. I was in the right place at right time."
Quoting Sophomore Guard Anthony "Humpty" Hitchens:
On consistently close games:
"The best thing that it can do for us is to give us confidence and show that we have heart. We never give up. Last year we went into overtime games and this year it feels like the same thing. It shows that we have tremendous fight and never give up."
