AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron basketball programs will hold their annual Basketball Media Day on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at James A. Rhodes Arena.
Fans will have the opportunity to view the live event via webcast beginning at 2 p.m. ET for the second-consecutive year. Those interested in viewing the event can do so by CLICKING HERE. Fans can also join the discussion through Cover It Live on the video player and through Twitter by messaging @FollowtheRoo.
Women's head coach Jodi Kest, junior Rachel Tecca, Jasmine Mushington and Natasha Williams will open the media day festivities to discuss the upcoming women's basketball season. Following a brief intermission, men's head coach Keith Dambrot, seniors Nikola Cvetinovic and Brett McClanahan, and junior Zeke Marshall will address the media at approximately 2:20 p.m. to discuss the men's campaign as the Zips look to repeat as MAC Champions.
This year, Zips fans will be able to participate in the Akron Basketball Media Day by submitting questions for Coach Kest, Coach Dambrot and the student-athletes. Fans can submit their questions via GoZips.com. Five questions for women's basketball and five questions for men's basketball will be chosen and asked during the event. Those fans whose questions are picked will receive an Akron Zips mini basketball.
The men's program opens its season on Thursday, Nov. 3, when it plays host to John Carroll in the squad's only exhibition game at Rhodes Arena at 7 p.m. ET. The Zips then travel to Starksville, Miss., to face Mississippi State on ESPNU on Wednesday, Nov. 9.
The women's program will play host to Ohio Dominican in its only exhibition game on Saturday, Nov. 5 at noon, before traveling to South Bend, Ind., to face Notre Dame in the Preseason WNIT on Friday, Nov. 11.
