AKRON, Ohio – Fans can visit with the 2011-12 Akron men's and women's basketball teams on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Halloween Hoops, Presented by Papa Johns, inside Rhodes Arena. Admission and parking for the event is free of charge and festivities are scheduled to take place from 5-7 p.m. ET. Everyone in attendance is encouraged to wear a costume.
This year's event will be a part of a busy day on campus at The University of Akron. In addition to Halloween Hoops, the football team will play host to Central Michigan at noon ET at InfoCision Stadium – Summa Field while the men's soccer team will face Wake Forest at 7:30 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium – Cub Cadet Field.
All kids in attendance will receive a Halloween goodie bag that can be used for trick-or-treating around the arena and a player autograph sheet (while supplies last). The event will also feature a costume contest, which will be judged by members of the men's and women's teams, with the grand prize of a year's worth of pizza from Papa Johns. UA fans will also have a chance to mingle with both squads, get autographs and pose for pictures.
Halloween Hoops Schedule of Events:
5:00-5:45 p.m. - Games and activities where fans can interact with student-athletes and coaches.
5:45 p.m. – Coaches and student-athletes introductions.
6:00 p.m. – Costume parade and contest.
6:20 p.m. – Team autograph sessions.
Men's and women's basketball season tickets are on sale and can be purchased online anytime at GoZips.com/tickets, or from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET on Mondays through Fridays by either calling 1-888-99-AKRON (25766) or visiting The C.P. and Cornelia S. Chima Athletics Ticket Office at InfoCision Stadium - Summa Field (located at 375 E. Exchange Street, near Gate 1 at the southwest corner of the venue, at the corner of E. Exchange and S. Union streets).
