AKRON, Ohio – National championships, success in competition and in the classroom, and a Top 25 finish in the Capital One Cup men's standings highlighted the 2015-16 academic calendar year and the start of the 2015-16 year as Zips Athletics published its Annual Report on Monday.
The 2015-16 season featured two NCAA Championships by runner Clayton Murphy, five Mid-American Conference team titles won, 27 individuals earned MAC Championships. Zips' student-athletes earned 18 All-America honors, 79 All-MAC selections, 135 Academic All-MAC awards, 60 MAC Distinguished Student-Athlete designations, and 15 Academic All-America honors among other conference and regional awards.
The Zips won the 2015-16 Reese Trophy as the Mid-American Conference's top men's athletics program and finished 21st nationally in the Capital One men's standings.
In the classroom, student-athletes posted a 3.07 GPA for the 2015-16 academic year, with 75 students earning degrees. More than 200 student-athletes made the Dean's List with a 3.5 GPA with 48 student-athletes earning President's List recognition with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
