The University of Akron baseball program and third-year head coach Rick Rembielak would like to invite all interested participants to a series of camps. All camps are for players aged 8-18 (players will be separated by age). In each camp, participants will be coached by all members of the Zips coaching staff, along with members of the Akron baseball team. All camps will take place in the Stile Athletics Field House, the indoor practice facility of the University of Akron baseball team. All campers must fill out a waiver prior to participating in any camps.
Date: Saturday, Dec. 7 and Sunday, Dec. 8
Time: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Third-year hitting coach Fred Worth and head coach Rick Rembielak will instruct campers on the proper swing mechanics to improve a hitter’s batting average and extra-base hit production. Campers will be exposed to a series of tee, short/front toss, and batting practice drills that are done daily by the Zips offense. The combination of instruction and drill work offered will improve all anyone interested in becoming a better all around offensive player.
Dates: Saturday, Dec. 7 and Sunday, Dec. 8
Time: 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Coach Rembielak and staff will cover all aspects of defensive position play. Fielding drills will cover stance, positioning, footwork, anticipation and reaction, ground balls and fly balls, backhands, double plays, bunt coverage, cutoff-relays, rundowns, bag coverage, communication, and other aspects of defensive play. This camp will give campers a great foundation to improve their in-game defense.
