Akron, Ohio – The Akron Zips men's golf team traveled to Wilmington, N.C. for the Seahawk Intercollegiate on Sunday and Monday, March 19-20, hosted by UNC Wilmington at the Country Club of Landfall, a par-72 course that stretches 7,036 yards.
"We are going to compete against some great teams this weekend at Landfall," head coach David Trainor said. "We have had a 12-day break from competition that we used to practice and prepare for this weekend."
The 12-team field includes host UNC Wilmington, Akron, Army West Point, Campbell, Cleveland State, Davidson, 11th-ranked Kent State, 26th-ranked North Carolina, Rhode Island, Richmond, Rutgers and South Alabama.
The Zips' starting five includes, sophomore Elliott Grayson (Shelby, N.C.), junior George Baylis (Ascot, England), senior Yann Pfeiffer (Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche, France), sophomore Jacob Appleby (North Canton, Ohio), and freshman Mitchell McFarland (Wheelersburg, Ohio).
The two-day tournament is scheduled for 36 holes on Sunday and the final 18 holes on Monday.
