AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron track and field team garnered a pair of career-best marks in the hammer to highlight the Zips' efforts on the opening day of the Northeast Ohio Quad on Friday, April 14, at the Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex.
Redshirt freshman John Zolton (Tallmadge, Ohio) registered a career-best throw of 158-8 (48.38m) to place eighth in the men's competition. Zolton posted his mark on his fourth overall attempt and first in the final round.
In the women's competition, sophomore Olivia Snyder (Navarre, Ohio) unleashed a career-long mark of 141-3 (43.07m) to garner a seventh-place finish, while sophomore Abigale Wilson (Carrollton, Ohio) placed eighth with a season-best mark of 135-3 (41.23m). Snyder recorded her top throw on her third attempt, while Wilson's best effort came on her initial throw.
The second day of competition at the Northeast Ohio Quad continues on Saturday, April 15, with the javelin beginning the day's action at 10 a.m.
