Women's Golf in Fifth Place After Day Two of MAC Championship
FISHERS, Ind. – Lina Bengtsson carded one of the low rounds of the day as the Akron Zips closed the second round of the 2014 Mid-American Conference Championship in fifth place on Saturday at the par-72, 6,102-yard Hawthorns Golf and Country Club.
Bengtsson's round of 2-over 74 was one of just 11 rounds of 74 or better on the day as she climbed into sole possession of 14th place with a 36-hole score of 153 (+9).
As a team, the Zips posted a round of 311 (+23) to finish day two with a total score of 624 (+48). Kent State leads the field with a two-day tally of 19-over 595.
Laura Murray remained inside the top-15, equaling her first-round 77 (+5) to close play with a score of 10-over 154. She is alone in 15th place.
Frida Fougberg closed play as the third Zip inside the top-20 after posting a round of 7-over 79. She will enter tomorrow's final round in a tie for 19th place with a score of 157 (+13).
Sara Chaves struggled on day two, posting a round of 12-over 84 to end the day in a tie for 35th place (163, +19).
Mallory Etcheberry rounded out the scoring-five in 45th place (172, +28) after posting a round of 81 (+9).
Akron will conclude the 2014 championship event on Sunday, with the round set to start at 8 a.m. ET. The first Zip will tee off at 8:50 a.m. Fans can follow all the action live via BirdieFire Live Scoring.
