Bloomington, Ind. – The Akron Zips women's golf team currently sits seventh overall after firing a 632 (+56) two-round total at the Indiana University Invitational on Saturday.
The Zips recorded rounds of 313 (+25) and 319 (+31) as sophomore Makayla Dull (Fremont, Ohio) led the way for Akron. Dull posted scores of 77 (+5) and 73 (+1) for a team-low 150 (+6) two-round total at the par-72 IU Golf Course that stretches 5,884 yards. Dull currently ranks ninth overall.
Sophomore Danielle Nicholson (Geneva, Ohio) followed in team scoring with a 158 (+14) 36-hole performance. She recorded rounds of 76 (+4) and 82 (+10) and is tied for 28th overall, while junior Pader Her (Holt, Mich.) is tied for 31st overall with a 160 (+16) two-round effort.
In addition, senior Alejandra Velasco-Villanueva (Guadalajara, Mexico), competed as an individual and is currently tied for 28th overall after rounds of 81 (+9) and 77 (+5) with a 158 (+14).
Indiana currently leads the team scoring with a 589 (+13) team total on rounds of 292 (+4) and 297 (+9). Western Michigan's Anna Wilcoxson currently leads the player leaderboard with a 2-under 142 two-round total.
Sunday's final 18-hole round is slated for an 9 a.m. shotgun start. Akron is scheduled to begin on holes No. 10-14. Fans can follow the action via GolfStat Live Scoring.
