Tennis Posts Wins Over IUPUI And Butler

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Akron tennis team topped IUPUI 7-0 at the Indianapolis Tennis Center and then defeated Butler 5-2 at the Butler Bubble on Saturday. The victories improved the Zips' dual record to 3-2 this season, while the afternoon decision versus the Bulldogs gave UA coach Jeffrey Wyshner his 200th career victory.

Against IUPUI, UA won the doubles point with the pair of Carolina Castro Cota and Tanyaradzwa Gombera winning 8-4 at the No. 1 spot, and Jeremie Benjamin and Lindsey Berry tallying an 8-0 victory at No. 2. IUPUI (0-6) provided little resistance in singles play, as the Zips claimed all six points in straight sets and allowed the Jaguars to win just three games.

Later in the day at Butler, Akron swept doubles play and scored straight-set wins at Nos. 1-3 and 6 singles.

Akron has its first home match of the season on Friday, when it entertains Cleveland State at 4 p.m. EST.
