AKRON, Ohio – After one week off from competition, the Akron tennis team prepares for a busy weekend, starting on Saturday with a doubleheader versus IUPUI (10 a.m. ET) and Wright State (2 p.m.) at its indoor home of LaTuchie Tennis Center in nearby Stow. On Sunday, the Zips (2-0) travel to Morgantown, W.Va., to face off against West Virginia in a noon contest.
Both home matches can be followed via live statistics.
Saturday's action marks the start of a home-heavy February for the defending Mid-American Conference squad, which is scheduled to play seven of its 11 matches this month in Akron.
UA, which last month was picked to capture both the 2012 regular-season title and league tournament championship in the conference's preseason poll, opened the year by defeating Oakland 7-0 on Jan. 21 and Michigan State 5-2 one day later.
Akron is in control of an 18-6 all-time record versus Wright State (0-3) and is tied 4-all in the all-time series with IUPUI (1-5). The Zips claimed the previous meeting with WSU 7-0 in Akron on Feb. 15, 2009, and have defeated IUPUI three-straight times, with the most recent being by a count of 7-0 on March 6, 2010 in Akron.
The Zips play host to New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) at LaTuchie Tennis Center on Feb. 11 at 4 p.m. ET, then compete at Cleveland State at 11 a.m. on Feb. 12 and host Youngstown State on that same day at 5 p.m.
