Tennis Advances in Doubles and Singles at Muirfield Collegiate Invite

COLUMBUS
– The University of Akron women's tennis team advanced two singles players and one doubles team into the second round of the Muirfield Collegiate Invitational on Friday. The three-day clay courts event is being hosted by Ohio State at The Country Club at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio.

In the opening doubles round of 16, the Zips pair of Prang Pantusart and Madison Cohen defeated Cinicinnati's Ashleigh Witte and Sierra Sullivan, 8-3.

On the singles court, Pantusart and freshman Signe Lazdina each advanced into the round of 16 with comeback victories. Lazdina earned her first collegiate win by way of a 3-6, 6-2, 10-7 score over CeCe Witten from Kentucky. Pantusart got the best of Bowling Green's Katie Brozovich, 5-7, 6-3, 10-6.

Competition resumes on Saturday at 9 a.m. ET and runs through Sunday.
