Tennis Concludes Day Two at Murifield Collegiate Invitational

– University of Akron women's tennis player junior Prang Pantusart advanced herself to the singles main draw round of eight on Saturday in day two of the Muirfield Collegiate Invitational. The three-day clay court event is being hosted by Ohio State at The Country Club at Muirfield Village.

Pantusart got the best of Ohio State's Niki Flower 6-2, 3-6, 10-8 to move into the quarterfinal round of the 32-player bracket. She then retired when facing Louisville's Julia Fellerhoff, with Fellerhoff up 5-1 in the opening set. Fellerhoff is the top seed and won the event in 2011.

Also starting the day in the singles main draw round of 16 was Zips freshman Signe Lazdina, who was defeated 6-1, 6-4 by Fellerhoff.

Pantusart and freshman Madison Cohen lost 8-4 in the doubles main draw to the Louisville team of Fellerhoff and Manuela Velsaquez.

Competition concludes on Sunday.
