Tennis Advances in Singles, Doubles in Day One of Spartan Invite

Spartan Invitational – Day One Results
EAST LANSING, Mich. – The University of Akron women's tennis team advanced players in two singles flights and two doubles brackets during the first day of the Spartan Invitational at Michigan State on Friday. The day ended early with a rain delay and competition will resume on Saturday at 8 a.m. ET.
In singles, UA's Prang Pantusart posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over Christiana Raymond from Miami (Ohio) in the opening round of flight A, while in flight C Zip Ksenia Berestetska posted a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 victory over Purdue's Gisella Pere. Angelika Jogasuria lost 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 in flight B to Wisconsin's Laura Chypyha as did Signe Lazdina 6-4, 6-0 in flight D to Ramona Costea from Miami (Ohio).
On the doubles court, the Zips team of Pantusart and Jogasuria defeated Ball State's Courtney Wild and Bethany Moore 8-4, and Berestetska and Lazdina got the best of Illinois-Chicago's Kathryn Sharples and Keti Mebuke 8-4.
