Women's Tennis Falls 6-1 at Miami (Ohio)

OXFORD, Ohio – The University of Akron women's tennis team lost 6-1 to Miami (Ohio) in Mid-American Conference competition on Saturday afternoon at Hepburn Courts. The Zips dropped their record to 14-7 overall and 2-1 in league play.

Akron scored its point with a three-set victory at No. 5 singles where Ksenia Berestetska defeated Ana Rajkovic, 6-2, 6-7 (7), 1-0 (5). The Zips pushed play at No. 2 and 3 singles to a third set. At No. 2, Miami's Alix Thurman topped Angelina Jogasuria 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (5), while at No. 3 it was the RedHawks' Christiana Raymond over Prang Pantusart 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (8). MU won in straight sets at the remaining three singles spots.

Miami (6-12, 2-1 MAC) earned the doubles point with a victory at the second and third flights. The Akron pair of Pantusart and Jogasuria, ranked 65th nationally, downed Christine Guerrazzi and Ana Rajkovic 8-1 at No. 1.

The Zips play host to their final homestand of the season next weekend as they face Bowling Green on April 5 and Western Michigan one day later. Both matches are scheduled for a 1 p.m. ET first serve.

Zips Notebook: Ksenia Berestetska has won six straight and 13 of her last 14 singles competitions ... the Zips' No. 1 doubles team of Prang Pantusart and Angelina Jogasuria improved to 13-0 this season ... UA lost the doubles point for the second-straight match ... the squad's seven-match win streak ended ... Akron has won seven of its last eight and 13 of its last 15 contests.
