Shkundina Claims Wins in Doubles and Singles In Day Two of Akron Invite

AKRON, OhioOlga Shkundina recorded one singles and one doubles win on Saturday in the second day of the Akron Invitational at LaTuchie Tennis Center. Cornell, Ohio State and West Virginia are participating in the round-robin, non-team scored event that runs through Sunday.

Shkundina teamed with Ksenia Berestetska in doubles to top West Virginia's Hailey Barrett and Ikttesh Chahal 8-5 and then defeated Alex D'Ascenzo from Cornell 6-5 (6), 6-1 in singles.

Also in doubles against West Virginia, UA's Caroline Harpaintner and Madison Cohen gave up an 8-4 decision to Kaja Mrgole and Oana Manole.

Berestetska, Cohen, Harpaintner and Marta Briega had straight-set singles losses to Cornell players, while Karolina Maksimava lost her first set before withdrawing due to injury versus CU's Sara Perelman.
