Women's Tennis Defeats ASA Community College 3-1 in Exhibition

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron women's tennis team posted a 3-1 victory over ASA Community College in exhibition play on Sunday morning at LaTuchie Tennis Center. The result does not count toward the Zips' overall record.
In doubles play, the UA pair of Martina Zerbola and Ksenia Berestetska defeated Daniela Vanko and Sacha Espiritu, 6-3.
On the singles courts, Berestetska scored a 6-3, 6-7 (4), 1-0 (1) win over Diana Perez at No. 2 and UA's Karolina Maksimava bested Danielle Winter 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3.
The Avengers scored their point at No. 1 singles, where Natallia Vavulina topped Martina Zerbola, 6-1, 6-2.
Up next for Akron is a five-match road swing that includes stops at Penn (Feb. 7), Saint Joseph's (Feb. 8), Youngstown State (Feb. 15), Portland State (Feb. 21) and Oregon (Feb. 22). The Zips return home on Saturday, March 8 for a doubleheader with Butler and Duquesne at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
