AKRON, Ohio – The Zips women's tennis team prepares for a weekend homestand in which it plays host to Mid-American Conference opponents Ball State on Friday and Miami (Ohio) on Saturday. First serve for both contests is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET at the squad's indoor home of LaTuchie Tennis Center in nearby Stow (driving directions).
Akron enters the weekend 10-10 overall and 0-3 in MAC play, and is competing at home for the first time since March 22 when it lost 6-1 to league foe Eastern Michigan. The Zips maintain a 2-4 mark at home this season and will take to the court in front of their hometown fans in three of their last five regular-season matches.
Ball State carries an 11-7 overall mark and 1-1 record in the MAC, and comes off a 5-2 loss to Miami (Ohio) on March 29. The Zips have defeated the Cardinals in five-straight meetings and improved their all-time record versus that program to 7-17 following a 4-3 win in Muncie, Ind., last season.
Miami (10-5, 2-0 MAC) enters the weekend following a 4-3 loss in non-conference action to Louisville on Sunday. The RedHawks travel to Buffalo on Friday before visiting Akron one day later.
Akron senior Ksenia Berestetska boasts a dual-match singles record of 16-2, including a 2-1 mark versus MAC opponents. She has won three-straight and eight of her last nine singles contests.
After a road swing to Bowling Green (April 11) and Western Michigan (April 12), UA wraps up the regular-season schedule at home versus Buffalo on April 19. The MAC Tournament is scheduled for April 25-27 in Oxford, Ohio, on the Miami (Ohio) campus.
