AKRON, Ohio – The Zips women's tennis team continues Mid-American Conference competition with a road trip to Bowling Green on Friday and Western Michigan one day later. Both matches are scheduled to start at 1 p.m. ET.
Following losses to Ball State and Miami (Ohio) at home last week, Akron heads into the weekend with a 10-12 overall record and 0-5 mark against the MAC. Injuries to several players this season has created a situation in which the Zips have been forced to compete with an ever-changing lineup.
One of the constants in the lineup this year has been senior Ksenia Berestetska, who has won four of her last five and nine of her last 11 singles matches. She maintains a 17-3 overall singles record in dual-match play this season, competing primarily at the No. 4 position.
The Zips lost twice to Bowling Green (8-6, 2-2 MAC) last year – 4-3 during the regular-season in Akron and 4-2 in the semifinal round of the league tournament in Muncie, Ind.
Akron notched a 5-2 home victory over Western Michigan (12-8, 1-3 MAC) last season. The Zips have defeated the Broncos in three-straight regular-season meetings and five-straight times overall, including victories in the semifinal round of the MAC tournament in 2011 and 2012.
UA closes out the regular-season at home against Buffalo on April 19 at 1 p.m.
