Women's Tennis Drops Road Match at Western Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich.
– The University of Akron women's tennis team lost 6-1 to Mid-American Conference opponent Western Michigan on Saturday afternoon. The competition started outside at Sorensen Courts, but was moved inside to West Hills Athletic Club during singles play due to rain.

As had been the case in two of the previous three matches, Akron (10-14, 0-7 MAC) senior Ksenia Berestetska provided the Zips' lone point. Today, she topped Caroline Aleck 7-5, 6-1 at No. 4 singles to improve to 5-2 in singles this year when facing a league opponent.

Western Michigan (13-9, 2-4 MAC) swept doubles play and won in straight sets at Nos. 1, 3 and 5-6 singles.

UA senior Karolina Maksimava lost 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (4) at No. 2 singles to Kathleen Hawkins.

UA closes out the regular-season at home against Buffalo on April 19 at 1 p.m. ET.
