CLEVELAND -- University of Akron women's tennis senior Ksenia Berestetska has been named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team, the league office announced on Tuesday.

This is the second consecutive season that Berestetska has earned a spot on the Academic All-MAC team.

"Ksenia has been a bright spot for this team and for the University of Akron as a whole since her arrival," said head coach Brandon Padgett. "Her commitment to academics from day one was evident, and I am honored to have had the opportunity to coach such a well-rounded student-athlete. Even though she has graduated, she will forever remain a Zip, and I look forward to seeing the amazing things that Ksenia is going to accomplish in her life."

Originally from Kiev, Ukraine, Berestetska recently graduated from UA with a bachelor's degree in mass media - radio/television, carrying a 3.96 GPA. A Dean's List honoree, she also earned the 2014 MAC Presidential Award and was named to the MAC Honor Roll.

Berestetska led the Zips with a 27-8 singles record as a senior in 2013-14, and a 9-17 doubles mark. Playing primarily at the No. 4 spot in the lineup, she won 13 of her last 15 singles matches of the year, including a streak of six consecutive victories. She finished her three-year career at Akron with a combined singles record of 82-27, ranking 14th all-time in the program for career wins.

Berestetska earned MAC Singles Player of the Week honors on Feb. 26 after picking up two victories at the No. 5 spot against Portland State and Oregon. She was also named the team's Most Valuable Player at the conclusion of the season.
