MISSION STATEMENT

The Z-Fund's mission is to directly support the overall goals of The University of Akron Department of Athletics by providing funds
to enhance the collegiate experience for nearly 450 student-athletes. Financial contributions are critical to the success and support of
student-athletes in their quest for excellence in the classroom and their respective sport.

A Quick Snapshot of the Z-Fund

- The Z-Fund is the organization through which alumni, parents, friends, faculty and businesses can provide vital financial support to the student-athletes which comprise the 19 Intercollegiate Athletic Programs at the University of Akron.

- Money generated from the Z-Fund helps with the following:

  1. Student-Athlete Scholarships ? The total bill for our 245.5 student-athlete scholarships for this upcoming year will be $7,300,000.
  2. Team Traveling Expenses ? teams are traveling more often and further distances to compete against the best Division I programs in the country.
  3. Athletic Resources and Equipment ? Our athletic programs are constantly in need of new team uniforms, warm-ups, sports specific equipment, medical treatment, etc.


Membership into the Z-Fund means you are not only supporting Akron Athletics, but you are now a part of the team

- Special Events
To create enthusiasm for our teams and to further develop donor relations, we will host over 100 events a year that include pre- and post-game functions, golf outings, special milestone celebrations, All-Sports Reunions, spring and fall socials, meet-the-coach opportunities, bowl and post-season competition arrangements and events, etc.

- Communications
All donors receive email updates of noteworthy events and deadlines.

- Tickets and Parking
Donors to the Z-Fund receive priority seating and parking for home and away athletic events for many of our varsity sports.

- The Future of Akron Athletics
The Z-Fund coordinates the fund-raising efforts for annual giving, planned gifts, and the endowment for the long-term success of Zips Athletics.
